Jointing

Scrim tape is used whenever two pieces of plasterboard have been joined. The scrim is applied and then the area is plastered over with a skim coat.
If scrim is not used on the joints there is a high possibility that the joints will crack in the future.
Where Plasterboard has been used to board a wall there is always be gaps between the sheets, these gaps are the weak points and when the plasterboard is plastered, these joints can often crack. To overcome this problem the joints are taped with scrim which is a sticky fibrous tape, the tape itself is not really that sticky and only just sticks to the plasterboard.

The Taping and Jointing System we use creates a continuous plasterboard wall or ceiling using easy application methods. Including for tapered edge plasterboard and on all internal and external corners.

Taping and jointing is the professional approach to finishing internal drywall systems. Applying specifically designed tape and fillers to the join is considerably quicker, cleaner and requires less drying time than traditional skim plastering. We apply this method and it guarantees that the surface of the walls offer the perfectly smooth, seamless finish required for trouble free decorating. This means a high quality finish in the quickest possible time that will contribute to the satisfactory completion of the development.
